PowerNet is the most powerful plug-in, included in VEGA, as it allows communication with other applications through the TCP/IP protocol. These applications can run on either a local or remote machine:

Local TCP/IP connection

Remote TCP/IP connection

Indeed PowerNet adds a TCP/IP port to VEGA that can send and receive command-line instructions, working in the same way as a POP3 server (Post Office Protocol). An example of an interface application is the REBOL scripting language, that is useful in the creation of scripts to customize the VEGA features. PowerNet allows virtual communication with all applications, that include a minimalist TCP/IP client. PowerNet also includes an access control in order to protect your system from hacking attacks via the Web. The several functions of PowerNet can be summarized as followed:

Telnet configuration     1) Telnet service:

this is the principal function to start the TCP/IP port, enabling the local and/or remote connection. You can change the port number (so that you can start more VEGA sessions without conflicts) and enable the password check, specifying the user name and its password.

2) Client filtering service:

it enables the remote access granting the VEGA control by other PCs. You can permit or deny access to specific hosts, defining their IP.

REBOL configuration     3) REBOL service:

PowerNet adds to VEGA the capability to manage REBOL scripts. PowerNet includes the REBOL/view package (8), but you can use other distributions with more features, as the REBOL/pro.

4) PDB service:

it's the interface to download the PDB structures directly into the VEGA framework.  Picking the PDB download item from VEGA File menu, you can access to the interface window that allows to query the PDB database by ID:
